DATA SECURITY AND CONFIDENTIALITY POLICY

Your online privacy and security is very important to Time’s Up for the Test.

Personal information collection

When you are using the timesupforthetest.org website or make contact with Time’s Up for the Test by other means, such as email or at an event, and you are asked for personal information, you are sharing that information with Time’s Up for the Test alone unless stated otherwise.

We may collect the following information from visitors:

  • IP addresses for analytics purposes (we do not store these with your profile or membership record)
  • Any information volunteered by the visitor, such as name, address, email address, etc.

Google Analytics

When someone visits timesupforthetest.org we collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour – such as which pages are visited, and how long is spent on each one. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site, and how people are using our site. These website statistics and data are collected by Google Analytics. This system also provides us with non-personally-identifiable ‘Interest’ and ‘Demographics’ data, which is collected using the widely-used Google Advertising Network DoubleClick cookie (see here for more information on this cookie, including how to opt-out). Time’s Up for the Test collects this data so that we can find out the kinds of people visiting our site, and we use this data to help us deliver our messages as effectively as possible. We do not display Google Adverts on our site.

See below for more information about cookies, and here for a way to opt out of Google Analytics on all websites you visit.

Your web browsers allows control of most cookies through the browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set and how to manage and delete them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org. See also ‘Ad Tracking’ below.

Sharing information

Time’s Up for the Test will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information, except when we have your permission to do so, or under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it. Time’s Up for the Test may share individual information to our agents for mail/email distribution or email/address validation purposes and such agents will be bound not to further transmit this information or use it in any other way. For example, we may use MailChimp to send some of our emails, and as such we transfer lists of email addresses to their system.

We endeavour to keep all personal data hosted within the EEA. If it is ever desirable to transfer your data outside of the EEA, as is the case with MailChimp, we look at this on a case-by-case basis to ensure that robust data-sharing agreements are in place. For example, MailChimp hosts its data in the US and is a member of the Privacy Shield scheme. This scheme has been declared by the EU to provide adequate protection for personal data, and as such we are happy to use it.

Time’s Up for the Test may also use personal information itself to contact people for marketing or administrative purposes.

We use the information we collect about visitors to the site to help us with understanding more about how our site is used and to be able to send you appropriate communications.

What does Time’s Up for the Test do with the personal information you provide?

If you provide us with personal information (for example, when joining our email list, when registering for an event, or when taking part in a campaign) your details are stored securely and used only for the purpose for which you have signed up. We do not pass your details to other organisations for marketing purposes without your express consent. Sometimes your personal information is supplied to third-parties for administration purposes. For example, if we collect donations through secure financial pages your details could be passed to financial partners for payment processing and validation purposes only.

The information you give us will be stored on a database and may be used by us where appropriate.  This data helps us to know what campaigns and appeals are working well and informs future activity across the organisation, helping us to be more effective in our activities. It is also used for routine administration such as distribution of information about future events or campaign activity.

Who else can access your personal information?

This website is hosted by 1&1, and information provided to us and subsequently authenticated on the site may be logged and stored securely by them for the purposes of tracing any site errors.  They will not use or transmit your personal information for any other purposes.

When you give Time’s Up for the Test personal information, we take steps to ensure that your information is treated securely. Unfortunately, it is not possible to guarantee the total security of any data transmitted over the Internet. While we strive to protect your personal information, Time’s Up for the Test cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you therefore do this at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems.

Once we receive your data, we do everything we can to make sure that it is secure on our systems. If you have any questions or concerns about your data please contact info@timesupforthetest.org or write to us at Time’s Up for the Test, 52 Bushy Park Road, Teddington, TW11 9DG.
